What’s New

As always there are more additions to the beautiful gardens of West Woodhay House, including the Rose Walk and the newly planted Jubilee Olympic Garden.

  • Gardening writer and televison presenter Pippa Greenwood will be joining us on both the Saturday and the Sunday
  • As well as Garden hints and tips on the Stage we will have Cooking demonstrations.
  • On that same stage we will have competitions for our visitors to join in, with prizes as well! These include a Hanging basket competition, “Who wants to be a Gardenaire” and a speed-based cooking competition.
  • We will have a new Child and Youth Competition on display – “Grow your own Lunch”
  • We will have a new area for children’s entertainment, using the woodland garden which will become “The Enchanted Wood” full of mystery and a “Treasure Hunt” amongst many things for your children to discover, and this year Sharky and George will be with us on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
  • On Saturday the RAF have kindly agreed to give us a flypast  from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

For our stage we have not one but two chefs helping us with competitions and demonstrations –

  • Peter Osbourne “The Big Chef”, he is one of the most accomplished ‘live’ cooking presenters today. He has shown his skill and knowledge in a fun but assured manner to audiences not only in this country but also many others. He always seeks to involve his audience and to pass on his passion for cooking to them, but never in a patronising way.
  • Paul O’Neill and we are particularly delighted to welcome him. Paul is the winner of the 30th Roux scholarship. In 2013 Paul became the 30th Roux Scholar – he beat off tough competition from the five other finalists who all prepared ‘Salmon Chambord style with Sauce Genevoise’. For the first time in the long history of this prestigious competition Paul’s win was revealed on television. Watch provided an unmissable opportunity for viewers to experience every step, twist and turn of The Roux Scholarship 2013 as it entered its milestone 30th year.
